Queen Elizabeth 1 meets biker chic

When I wake up the first thing I do is head to my computer and I check out my favourite fashion blogs and sites. I also get daily emails from stylecaster, which I adore, and it was in one of their many emails that I discovered Balenciaga's resort collection 2010. I was absolutely stunned. It was as if I was looking at a piece of art at the Louvre. Nicolas Ghesquière managed to make beautiful clothes by combining hard leather jackets and men's pants with ruffles on the collars, polka dots, bows on the waist, a certain messy look of the silk blouses and of course AMAZING hard rock, edgy, jaw dropping shoes. Everything looks amazing, it is truly an inspirational collection that deserves merit and which we will certainly see much more of, during the following months.

Dreaming about...

Chanel's  2009 cruise collection, two tone woven shoes. These are the perfect last touch to complete a rocker chic look. They are fun, edgy and very punk, everything that I love. You can pair them up with jeans, skirts, dresses, you name it. Any woman will look amazing in these.

Vittoria Puccini looks amazing with them and they are obviously the master piece of the outfit, which all together is perfect. I loved how she matched a simple, cut yet sophisticated dress and clutch, with the rocker chic shoes.
Lastly I could not finish this post without congratulating Mr. Karl Lagerfeld, who as always did an awesome job and is continuing Coco Chanel's legacy to very high standards. Three cheers for him!

Geek Chic

So this is my latest favourite outfit (I know, I have a lot of them) and so of course I had to share it with you all. This look is what I like to call "Geek Chic", because it's kind of school girlish with a chic twist to it.
What I like the most about this outfit is the shirt (that my dad brought me from Alcatraz Prison) and my leather briefcase , which is old school but I love it- who said old and geeky wasn't cool? The skirt is actually a hand me down from my sister. Again I piled a whole bunch of necklaces and bracelets and I'm also wearing my amazing new shoes! Which I cannot stop wearing.

Ramblin' Rose

This is one of my favourite outfits, because it's so comfortable yet chic and very rock 'n' roll. In these photos I'm wearing high heels, but normally I pair the outfit with my military boots (better to walk in). Right now I'm completely obsessed with long cardigans, with or without buttons. It also seems I'm also giving into the waist belt craze.

I'm madly in love with my new bag! It's got a great design (although you can't see it very well) and it carries all my stuff in there, including my school books.
These past few weeks, I have found myself with a loaded arm. Everyday I just keep adding more and more bracelets and also rings- notice my bright yellow flower that really contrasts with the whole outfit.
It's not just bracelets and rings, but also necklaces! Notice the two silver necklaces. I bought them in Russia and I adore them, even though they have orthodox christian symbols (I'm not religious, let alone orthodox christian). And also it seems like wearing lots of crucifixes is very "in" right now.

MTV Movie Awards 2009

This years MTV Movie Awards was not only outstanding in terms of comedy (e.g, host Andy Samberg, Bruno, Jim Carrey's speech and how could I forget the beginning: Slumdog Millionaire, meets Twilight, meets The Reader meets Star Trek meets Justin Timberlake's limo) but it wasn't just about the movies or Robert Pattinson, it was also about the fashion. Some of the stars got it spot on, for example Kristen Stewart, and some just weren't there, like Miley Cyrus who for a 16 year old, looked like a 45 year old.
Here are my absolute favourites of the night:
Kristen Stewart not only picked a super rock 'n' roll Yigal Azrouel dress but she also had the confidence to wear it with All Stars! I would wear this outfit myself. Absolutely adore it!
Although it's not one of my favourites, I find Lauren Conrad's Moschino dress very fun and flirty, the frills are amazing and of course you can never go wrong with Louboutin lace-up heels. On the other hand I'm not too sure about the hair.
There is absolutely no Queen B in Leighton Meester's style. The cut offs in the Emilio De La Morena dress are gorgeous and the Brian Atwood  boots also contribute to the overall cool, punk rock look.
You can never go wrong with classic black. Hayden Panettiere looks amazing with her Emanuel Ungaro dress and peep heels. When in doubt, follow Hayden's look.
If I had gone to the Movie Awards, I would have worn this Balmain dress and sandals. It's so edgy and punk rock but also a bit classic, that when I saw it I fell in love.
What do you think about the star's red carpet choices and mine?

Rock 'n' Roll Nerd

Luella Bartley is one of my favourite designers. She knows what young women like and she gives it to them. Most of all I always get a very British feel from her collections, they seem to be the translations of the modern hip girl on the streets of SoHo and that makes the clothes the more interesting. Her Spring 2008 ready to wear collection is my absolute favourite, with the spring 2009 right behind. The great mesh she did with different styles is amazing. I myself, being a bit of a comic book and sci-fi fan, loved the way she used comic book heroes on her tees and also for a lot of the prints on the clothes, as Luella said herself "A bit geeky and cartoonish". The geeky glasses are just awesome, and it all fits so well together with her feminine florals, masculine clothing items and of course that punkish feel. I couldn't post this message without mentioning the shoes and the bags! I can't even express how much I adore them. I have only one word to say: love! :)

Here is an outfit I put together inspired by the collection you just saw.

So what do you think about Mrs. Luella Bartley? And did I get my outfit right?

Ms. Skin

Like every "Skins" fan, I absolutely adore Elizabeth Stonem, otherwise known as Effy, and how could I not? Not only is her character mysteriously fascinating but she also has the most amazing style. From her make-up to her boots nothing ever fails. She makes dirty punk rock look beautiful, with leather jackets, comme de garçon boots, excentric graphic tees, unbelievably short dresses and tons of accessories. With that said, I can only congratulate the Skins Costume Designer, Edward.

Kaya Scodelario is the amazing actress (and also model) who plays the difficult character of Effy. It seems like she was also caught by the Effy bug and you can clearly see the resemblance in styles, although Kaya adopted a more chic, clean look but yet very rock 'n' roll look.

For those of you who are not familiar with skins, check out the trailers on youtube, especially season 2 and 3. They are amazing!
What do all you think about Effy's and Kaya's style?
